After reading
Pink Purl's post a couple of weeks ago about cleaning naturally and using essential oils; I was inspired to get out my essentials oils and really use them! But one thing at a time for me as I am the kind of person who needs to go slow or it won't stick. For more ideas on how to use essential oils in cleaning the house I have ordered a book that Pink Purl suggests in her blog.
It will be a great help at applying further green cleaning to my home.

My first application is to take one wash cloth each day and put a dab of a favored scent on it. Each time I pick up the cloth to wipe off a counter the essential oils puts a lovely herb, fruit or floral scent in my noses path! The washcloth I chose today was made by
Willow especially for me. I love the cloths she made and use them for the none greasy, dirty spills around the house. Some of them I save for my face only. My essential oil supply came from
San Fransisco Herb Co. These are a nice quality oil and an easy company to do business with!

I've always wanted a real lavender garden and here is the start of it. We have just the spot and are waiting for the rain to let up, so the planting can begin!!

Of all the varieties of Lavender my favorite is
Hidcote,a small headed, intensely purple shrub with shiny foliage. It dries to that same exuberant color and looks really nice for years!

Lavender season is just beginning and some of my plants are further ahead than others in their blooming. The plant below will be in full bloom by the end of June. Lavender as a shrub does not have a long life span. A shrub is usually attractive for up to five years. So... keep planting and there will always be a replacement!!

I've got a hidcote lavender also and I'm happy to say it survived for two seasons so far :0)
If you travel to England in the future you should visit the Hidcote Garden in the Cotswold area. I used a hidcote lavender for our shower garnishes Sunday, too. It seems your lavender should thrive in your neck of the woods...
I'm enjoying reading about your experiments with essential oils...
I hope it's ok when I answer you back here. There are actually two tablecloths on the table. Because it's oversized square I put one across diagonal and one across vertical. The lace fabric across the table in the middle is a nice long piece of lacey fabric with scalloped edges I found in a thrift store. I knew I'd find something to do with it for the $2.00 it cost me...
:0)
I love the hidcote lavender too. I now have five lavender on the hill behind the house. Yay! I may replenish each plant with a hidcote in the future.
I am looking into using the essential oils too. My movement to the green cleaning supplies will have to wait until July, though.
I'll look up SF Herb Co. I have a teapot with their name on it! I use it for herbal teas.
Do you purschase the SFHC oils on line or at a local store?
Now that's a great idea!! Never thought about using essential oil for wash cloth, now I've got to go dig out bottles of them...lying somewhere :)
Ah, Lavender...one of my favorite plants and oils! I'm so thrilled my post inspired you to give those oils a try and real workout ;o) Those are great oils you have. We have to clean...might was well make the experience as uplifting and earth-friendly as possible! Happy Days, my friend ((HUGS))
