Life on the farm.

We have had four days of temperatures over 60 degrees this month. This is a record breaker for our area, according to the weather man. The warm weather gets me anxious to start planning the garden. Last year I planted the below row of sunflowers near the house and I will add them again this season. There are never enough sunflowers even when I plant several packages of seeds!!

The kitty is my beloved Bart. He is strolling out to greet me in the garden. Bart was given to me by a very special young lady who found him in a heap of yard debris. He was just three weeks old. Needless to say, Bart needed some mothering and that is what I did. I took him to work with me for three months, hiding him under my desk, while children visited me to sign up for bottle feeding. I worked at a local middle school as a library assistant. My resident administrator was secretly encouraging me to allow the students help. Bart received the needed attention and I was the happiest "kitten mama" around!! Bart has now become our mouse catcher and that's not where it stops! He occasionally catches something larger and disgusting but my husband assures me it's ok. I'd rather not see the catch but Bart likes to be praised for his kills and often drops them off at the front door! This is part of living on a farm and having a cat!

Posting a Blog.....What to do and what not to do....

After just a few days of writing and posting I have found myself starting to obsess over how my entry's look. For instance, when placing a picture in a new posting it is better to use either a large photo copy or a small photo copy. So far my choice is large because when you write a caption or short paragraph the words fit better. If you choose medium size photo's, the entire post looks bad and it's impossible to fix short of starting over. I tried to fix my previous blog entry and after about ten attempts decided to copy and redo the layout. I feel better with the second attempt.
Do most people play around with the blog before setting out to publish one? I do know that some people start new blogs after learning the ropes. That sounds like a good idea to me!
Does it matter? You tell me!

Westminster Dog Show 2008

The picture you are looking at is of the Prima Bathing System that Gary Falkenberg of Falkenberg Inc. designed and sells. It was used in the grooming area at the Westminster Dog Show. On the left is the commercial unit and on the right is the home unit. Everyone who used the Prima Bathing System was happy with how their dog came out clean and soap free. This is important to the dog because if the soap doesn't come out then there will be dandruff and irritation to the dogs skin.Take a further look.... http://www.primabathing.com/

Westminster Dog Show 2008

You may have seen this mop of a dog at the finals for the Westminster Dog Show. He was adorable but his hair was a mess!! Actually, they like this breed to look like a mop.
This big boy took hours to fluff and do...and do! Another finalist.
Here is the grooming room, equipped with mirrors, fans, dryers and more dryers!
Some dogs are prettier than others!
Foo foo enjoyed all the attention she got!

Mt. Hood View

This is the view I have each day where I walk. What you are looking at is beautiful Mt. Hood taken from Stone Creek Golf Course in Oregon City. A day after this picture was taken it snowed and the entire scenery changed into a wonderland of white.
I have been walking now for almost two years. Someone asked me recently how long before I noticed a change in my body. Well, it took about three months to notice a change in my energy and overall well being. Weight? The truth is I can eat pretty much what I want without gaining. I have come to love my time walking and plan to keep it up for years!
The path I take is approxiamately four miles long. It's better for me than a tread mill because once I'm walking there is no use stopping or turning back. Tread mills bring to my mind every excuse in the book to stop before going two miles.

Have you ever in your life seen a face like this?

I might as well get this over with. Meet LilliAnne. She is our granddaughter. Her second birthday was on February 20th.

She brings to us life, laughter, and love! She holds our hearts in her smile and we couldn't love her more. She will be present in my writing as she grows and does amazing things. LilliAnne is ours!

What more is there to say?

Beginning to bloom!

Hello Fellow Flower Friends! This is just the beginning to a new exploration of what people say is "fun." Lets see where this takes me!
