As I have been saying, we have a wedding at our farm in two weeks. This weekend was overcast and drizzly, so I decided to paint the porch furniture and picnic tables. It took sometime but they are now pristine and ready for the celebration.
In order to be prepared for unexpected company I often bake and with four rapidly ripening bananas this is what I stirred up....Banana Bread.
Banana Bread: Recipe comes from the Pine Tavern Cookbook. Butter: 1/4 cup, Sugar: 3/4 cup, Eggs: 2, Bananas, overripe and mashed: 2, Sour milk:(add 1 t vinegar to milk) 1/4 cup, Flour: 2 1/4 cup, Baking powder: 3/4 t, Baking soda: 3/4 t, Salt: 1/4 t, Chopped walnuts: 1/2 Cup. Cream shortening and sugar together thoroughly. Add eggs, bananas and sour mild and mix well. Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together into banana mixture. Stir well. Add nuts. Bake in greased loaf pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to one hour or
until well done.

What happened to the bucks? This is what they wanted to eat the other day and it's why we had to do something quick. We did see them yesterday in the back yard...just beyond the gravel in this picture. They haven't come back up to the house so far, but let me show you why! :)

Your Grandbabie is beautiful. I Love those curls! Wonderful pics of her. Delicious raspberries, yummy! Now I am wondering how long will your radio play to keep the bucks away? I saw one of my visiting deers yesterday as I was mowing and she was very close to were I will be putting my garden next spring,,hmmm, note to self, cheap radio, chair, red shirt, etc...

Oh your buck scarecrow is marvelous! Little LA is adorable. Love the hair and those eyes! Great shots and well done gram on not panicking when she had her little adventure climb...
Your granddaughter is gorgeous!
It's mind blowingly wonderful to have those little Granddarlings around.
Some interesting posts and the raspberries look divine.
We love seeing deers here but obviously not so good when they eat your roses.
Kisses to LA from her Auntie Willow!
The deer scarecrow is perfect! I won't ask what station the radio is tuned to...
The furniture looks great. I remember that the pieces were all painted two years ago for someone else's wedding :)
Please save some raspberries for me! I've run out of raspberry freezer jam! Oh no!
Wow..what a busy person you are :) Firstly, LA is just gorgeous! Love the curly hair, and raspberries? I'd love to pick them, but by now, you'll know we dont grow them here sadly. Wedding in two weeks time..time certainly flies and I am sure you'll be super busy then. How's the flowers coming along? I cant wait to see the wedding..so exciting. As for the jackfruit..I cant think of a fruit that taste similar, but it's everyone favorite over here...well almost, as I've read Willow doesnt like it.
As you had asked so many questions I thought I would come straight back.
Blackcurrants do not grow wild, only Blackberries.
We used to make lots of jam until recent years when that is one of the 'chores' Ihave cut down on.
I now keep them in the freezer and made delicious desserts or add them to apple crumble and stuff.
Yes Lakeland in Florida is where the current healign revival is taking place plus hundreds getting saved.
We can walk to our church site (it is really our christian school and we use the same site, the house of prayer being a seperate building) but we rarely do. We walk a lot for pleasure but I am not keen on walking when I have to get somewhere.
Our roses are tapering off but we will get a second bloom in ab out a month but not so prolific. They then flower on and off in pockets for months depending on how much I prune them back.
How in the world did you manage to do all of that AND get it posted?! Wonderwoman!
What's the cute little building behind your cute litte granddaughter in the fence-climbing photos?
Thanks for a lovely time in the garden!
