Tropicana Rose...

Hydrangea, Protea, Aypericum, Alastroemeria are the flowers that were included in last weekends wedding. 

 Designing wedding flowers is something I never get tired of doing.  Each wedding presents a new opportunity to use some of the most interesting flowers around and many of them are grown right here in the Willamette Valley.  The roses come from Peterkort Roses.  The local roses are similar to the South American roses, but they are more delicate in nature.  The stem is lighter and  are easier to work with when putting together corsages, and smaller hand-tied bouquets.

With Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner my focus turns to holiday designing.  The front porch is already starting to look a bit festive with stacks and stashes of organic treasures!  I'll share more of that next week!  Have a good week! 

Traditional Wedding Flowers

Pink and white flowers were the choice for the weekends traditional style wedding. Flowers filled my car as I drove north to the outdoor/indoor setting of my last wedding for the summer.

This wedding was a lot of fun to do.  The bride gave me free reign in design ideas and flower choice.  It was important to have flowers that would make the six hour trip and still be in good condition to arrange. I chose roses, asters, mums, lilies, gerbera daisies, hydrangea, baby's breath, grasses, curly willow, leather fern, ivy, and salal.

The bridesmaids bouquets were especially wedding like in the nosegay style and finished with a cone shaped holder.  I covered heavy carboard cones with pink polka dot paper and added pink organza ribbon as the finishing touch.  The flowers were arranged in an oasis holder that keeps the flowers fresh for hours and  then glued into the cone.

The brides bouquet was styled in the traditional cascade and held a dozen pink roses, bouvardia, asiatic lilies, daisy mums, salal and ivy. 

Pink organza ribbon and white tulle was tide lightly around the holder, which created a stream like flow as the wind gently blew. 

A simple cake topper of pink roses, mums and asters were placed on the cake.

Life is beautiful and even more so when there is a wedding! 

The Flowers

In the midst of getting ready for the wedding we had here last weekend..I had flowers to put together for the bride.  She chose dahlia's in jewel tones and other interesting combinations of amazing blooms.

The bouquets were full and enchanting.  Color was bursting forth and captured the look our bride wanted.  The striking colors set against all the green made a beautiful combination for a garden wedding. 

The Wedding

The wedding is over.  The guest have gone home and a sweet memory is left to digest.  I'm going to leave you with a few pictures of the woodland wedding ceremony site.  You can imagine the peaceful setting and how the beautiful bride felt to be getting married in the place of her dreams.

 I looked up at the sky right after the ceremony and said a prayer of thanksgiving. 

 ( The wedding was in the woods...on our farm.  The weather was perfect..not too hot and not too cold.)

My brothers wedding day...

Some days are sighted for being remembered and for setting a new course in life. Saturday was like that for my brother. We are pleased to announce that Gary and Margie are off to a new beginning as husband and wife!



They met a year ago while taking dance classes. Gary was Margie's partner and she became his very good friend. Love bloomed.

Now they are husband and wife, and will dance through the years together!
We wish them our very best!

Wedding Flowers with loads of color!

Many different flowers were used for these wedding centerpiece urns. Putting them together was a lot of fun, it reaped the reward of varied texture and rich color combination! This is definitely an autumn pallet.

The brides bouquet of Freedom roses is arranged in a clutch style, encircled with bright green hypericum and tied with ivory satin ribbon.

These large arrangements of Asian Lilies and red roses were adorned with lush greenery.

Flowers, flowers, flowers!!

It was an early morning drive into Portland and a visit to the growers market this day! All of the flowers below will be arranged and taken to two different venues for two separate weddings this weekend. The next few days will be busy but I'll be back to share the outcome!
