As I wandered into a new clearing area, there they were.......more violets.....pink and purple violets!! There would be no clean-up in that spot! We stopped to appreciate natures surprise...but the day was not over yet!

At lunch time, we glanced out the living room window to see our three deer munching their way around the house and backyard. (The deer are ours because they are in our yard!) They moved with grace and seemed very comfortable. I grabbed the camera and walked outside, around the house, to get a picture without the glare of the window. I stood there and took several shots of the trio. They slowly walked into the woods to find a nice spot for a nap.

The weather man says.....
The weather man says it will sleet, freeze and maybe snow tomorrow. We live at a level of altitude where that could all happen. I had to get outside and make a record in photos of today, because tomorrow things could change in the landscape. I scurried outside to take a few pictures of the spring like weather, before it goes away. The fear is that the flowering trees will be hit hard and its fruit will be struck dead. This is a common happening, but there is always hope that the weather man is wrong! It is quite nippy out but the sun continues to shine! Hope!!
The daffodils have been blooming for a few weeks. I don't like to cut them to bring in the house because then they fade and are gone. We have planted just enough to make the yard look bright and cheerful. I wonder if the freeze will harm them?
We worked in the "Cathedral" area today. It was a "burn" day. In our area of the country burning is prohibited much of the time. We have to call, and listen to a recording, to know if we can burn. Today was a go. We stacked limbs, dug up ferns to transplant (ferns won't die in a freeze) and racked up leaves. Woodland fires are kept very confined and safe.

Beautiful photos Flower. It sure did get nippy today. Our deck was frozen this morning. They are threatening us with a possible "snow event" here and there...
The daffodils are amazing ...so it Bart by the way! I was so happy ..the seeds came. I opened them and counted them as if they were diamonds - no kidding ok! and I shall be very busy making a new home for them. Really cant wait for them to bloom and I will show you the flowers! We have too much sun here, last week was 37celcius...way too hot and El Nino is visiting here..so it's going to be a very dry season for 2010 :( hugs..M
Well first of all I must say that Bart is one handsome looking fella! I just want to pick him up and hold him.
Where you live sure looks beautiful! I think I would have had to cute the flowers today as I would hate to lose them to the weather. Normally I'm with you and don't cut flowers to bring inside.
Here is hoping the weather man is wrong!
I just love that you have deer in your yard. They are so pretty. I have never seen a deer out in the wild and have always said that I want to before I die.
Hugs,
Joanne
Good to see the color of flowers poking through
I cut the few I had because it is suppose snow..
Love the dear
sp sweet and the cat is so focused on them
my cat has a fit if a cat is in the yard
but lets a fox right on the porch and just watches it through the window.
Thank you for sharing your early Spring and your walk in the woods. You know the violets are my very favorite. I can't remember when I have seen a pink violet around here. Once in awhile a white one. Beautiful photos!
This is a beautiful ( literally ) post. I am amazed by all the violets in your woods. I also like the line" the deer are ours because they are in our yard."
Beautiful and crazy weather we have in the PNW, huh?
LOVE this flora & fauna post, Juelen... I can't wait for real signs of spring like those daffodils... such happy flowers! So sweet to see Bart--what a cutie! Happy Weekend to you all :o) ((HUGS))
Your daffodils sure are beautiful. I love your photos of the violets, deer, and Bart. Bart is a pretty cat. I'm so glad spring's springing in your part of the country. Our daffodils are just coming up, but I saw a lovely purple crocus this morning. I'm really looking forward to spring. I enjoyed your photos very much.
