While on a walk, in a new (to me) neighborhood, these HUGE crocus were growing in one yard. I had to pause and take them in. Each flower was as big as my hand!
Autumn Crocus ‘The Giant’ – Botanical name is Colchicum Speciosum ‘The Giant’
Let's get outside and take in the changes that are occurring in gardens. No matter where we live on this earth..things are growing, unfolding and showing off. I had never seen a Giant Autumn Crocus...until this week. How can that be? I know...I walked down a new road.

Are they autumn crocus? I hadn't heard of autumn crocus until someone from England posted about them this week.
I love autumn crocus and do see them in many places in Canby.
Beautiful post, Julene.
How beautiful! I have 3 bags of bulbs from Costco waiting for me to plant them...
Lovely. I'm glad you took a new road :0)
Julene, We go to Hales'on McLoughlin in Gladstone. They have the best Swedish.
I don't think I have ever seen the crocues as large as you described them. What a sight.
Ah, the perks of taking the road less traveled! ;o) These are sooo lovely... that pale purple & white is so happy to see. They are like a tiny stars in autumn... The weekend here was a busy one. Saturday was making a start on garden clean up for end of season. And Sunday was clearing out closets and changing from summer clothes to winter ones. It's getting chilly here! Happy new week, my friend :o) ((HUGS))
Always enjoy reading about what your eyes see!!
Glad you got that treat. It is beautiful (o:
I'm so glad I found your blog. My great aunt gave me some of these 20 years ago....they got transplanted to this home but I always forget about them. They are in a back garden. I need to move them. Mine are huge as well and the same color. I've never seen anyone else talk about them. So beautiful.
