What else would get me up early on a Saturday morning, after travelling most of the day before, than a barn full of animals that look like this? Not much! The annual Oregon Flock and Fiber show comes to my home town each year on the last weekend of September. Last year was my first visit to this festival and it became something I wanted to attend again. So, that is why I got up early to drive a short distance and spend time among some talented people and their animals!
Aren't these Alpaca's (above) adorable with their big brown eyes and cunning ways!! They are a shy animal, curious and approachable.

Lama's are taller and more austere looking. Each animal gives the most wonderful fiber in a varied array of color and texture. I wouldn't mind having a couple of these animals in my barn yard!! I wonder what our four goats would think?
A variety of goats filled the barn also. This sweetie caught my eye as he was being groomed to be shown and judged. His coat was very curly and fluffy!
Being able to visit the barn and visit with other animals lovers was a lot of fun. Besides the animals there were hundreds of knitters, weavers, felters, spinners, and people like myself that found it all very interesting and inspiring!

You were actually able to go home without committing to buying another animal for your place ?
Don't you just love the sounds and smells of the fairgrounds in the morning ? Especially the smell of hay being munched and hot coffee and breakfasts of the exhibitors.
Was this the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival ? I need to go to that one next year.
Those alpacas are so darn cute!! The eyes on that last goat are really interesting. Have a wonderful week Flower!
Oh ho! You have now started down that slippery slope of owning fiber animals! Just a little slide and you'll soon be the proud owner of an entire HERD of llamas or alpacas. And yes, I'm SURE the goats will love them and live together in perfect harmony. And you'll send me ALL the yummy fiber, right? I'll spin and 'send it back'. "I Promise", says Willow with her fingers crossed behind her back. :)
And yes, I'd love to see the pinning photos you took.
Flower, both Dianne and I were at OFFF wandering around on Saturday! She had her grandson with her and they had a wonderful time. She said she'd be willing to email about loom choices if you want. Part of the thing is, how small is "small"? you can contact her at Dianne at FiberRhythm dot com.
Definitely worth getting up early for! Aren't they pretty?
