Library Day!
In any given week there is at least one trip to the library for me. At present I have over 30 books checked out and I owe $4.10 in overdue fines! I'm doing my part to help support the library! In our county the local libraries are given funds based on how many books are checked out throughout a year. It is my job to keep checking out books and keep reading. I want to insure jobs for the wonderful people who work in our library. The hours and days the library is open have been cut back drastically and it's really a shame to our community. Is it a reflection on our society? Is it a reflection on education? Is it politics? What do you think? How is your library system funded?

I have no idea how my library system is funded in my new town. Shame on me for not finding out about this sooner.
We do have a brand new library! Let's visit it when you come down.
it's definitely society. we watch way too many movies and read way too little. i feel sorry for the hispanics in our town as they suffer from the shortened hrs./closures.

I'm with Willow. If I remember correctly, though, in Camarillo an old established farmer who died left money for the new library. I'll have to research that. If it depended on how many books were checked out whether a library would survive I'd be right there with you checking out bunches of books consistently to keep it going. My favorite part of our new library is the Friends of the Library section with used books to buy. I love spending time there...
Our library is in a store front. The lease is almost up and there is no beautiful building to move in to. It would so great if someone would endow the library enough to build a building worthy of books! Let's see, that would take about 5 million dollars, with the price of land and building material. I can dream!!
Hullo, found you thru my BBF Cheryl at Periwinkle Vintage. I love Stillmeadows too and, I see you are a George Winston fan. Yup, we have great taste!
Nice to meet you!

I adore the library in Gig Harbor, just 10 min. from me! It is beautiful and decorated to the max! It is funded by hefty fines, which not one person seems to mind, they also do cool fundraisers which really helps out. This community really supports and loves their library, thank the Lord! Homeschoolers like myself really use it a ton...Love your sweet blog, Donna Lynn
Hey, Flower, nice to meet you! I love the library, too, but I usually have a much higher bill to pay than you do! I'm not very good about returning books on time. Thanks for checking out my blog. Come visit again!
